Every city I go to, I do at least one walking tour, and Haktan was the best guide in my expieriance! I have done more interesting tours, but as a judging just the quality of a guide, this was the best expieriance for me.

This food tour through Kadıköy was an absolute highlight of my time in Istanbul, and honestly one of the best ways to experience a food-obsessed culture like Turkey's. Our guide Ferhat was excellent — knowledgeable, easygoing, and clearly passionate about the neighborhood and its food scene. What made this tour special was getting to try things I never would have sought out on my own. Two standouts: şalgam, a tangy fermented turnip/pickle juice that's a real acquired-taste local staple, and kokoreç, a grilled lamb intestine dish that sounds intimidating on paper but turned out to be genuinely delicious. Trying both with a knowledgeable local guide who could explain what they were and why they matter culturally made the experience way more enjoyable than just stumbling on them alone. Street food tours are such a great way to get beneath the surface of a place, and doing this on the Asian side specifically gave me a totally different feel from the more touristy European side — more local, more lived-in, less performative. If you're spending any real time in Istanbul, I'd strongly encourage making the trip over to Kadıköy for a food tour like this one. It genuinely enriched my whole experience of the city and gave me a much fuller picture of Istanbul's food culture beyond the usual kebab-and-baklava tourist track.

I found the tour really interesting and it answered many of the questions I'd had about life and culture in Istanbul/Turkey (not covered by a more 'traditional' history walking tour). We went back to 3 of the places recommended and really enjoyed the food!

Haktan is fantastic! He is a very natural and engaging guide, and the tour route took us to some not as busy areas of the city. He is funny and entertaining! He provides headsets which makes it really easy to hear him. Highly recommend.

Simply amazing, incredibly engaging and entertaining from beginning to end. Also very professional as he gave us headphones to hear him better which is something mostly seen by the expensive pre-paid tours. Also incredibly knowledgeable. He told us he also did the old city tour but unfortunately we had already done that with another group otherwise we would definitely have gone with him. Highly recommend

He's super knowledgeable and helped us get to know the city through its historical events, telling us about the culture with various funny anecdotes and valuable tips on where to go to fully enjoy it. Haktan was professional (clear communications prior to walk, knowledgeable, entertaining) and a gracious guide (provided headsets, kept us in the shade on a warm day and paid for the ferry, patiently answered questions, etc). Haktan showed us the sites as described in the description and made recommendations as asked by the group. We were glad to have been on the tour!

Ferhat was great - very informative and it was easy to understand his English as he speaks slowly. The food he recommended was all tasty, unique and interesting. This is a must do food tour on the Asian side.
