Robert - Tour Guide in Budapest

Hi, I’m Robert!

Born and raised in Hungary, with a side quest in Canada (where I picked up the fine art of saying "eh" and apologizing unnecessarily-sorry), I'm a dual citizen; fluent in both Hungarian and English. Having lived most of my life in Budapest, I know this city like the back of my hand, but my time in Canada gave me a fresh appreciation for different cultures and perspectives.

I’m a passionate history buff, always digging into the fascinating stories behind Budapest’s iconic landmarks. Whether it’s ancient tales of kings and empires, legendary battles, royal drama or quirky local legends, I love bringing the city’s past to life. I believe every street has its story.

When I’m not immersed in history, I’m probably watching a movie(or quoting one) searching for a new film to add to my list—I’m a big movie fan and think Budapest has a deep cinematic history and flair.

And let’s not forget food! I'm always on the lookout for the best local eats, so expect a few food tips along the way (I may even sneak in a snack myself).

So if you’re ready for a tour filled with history, movie-worthy views, and some tasty local bites, come join me and discover Budapest like a true local!

Robert was great!! - loads of history and stories, very engaging and while our group was on the reserved side, he tried to engage everyone by having trivia questions and prizes! I was amazed that he goes to the trouble to carry a frozen water bottle in his backpack to keep the traditional Hungarian snacks cold to hand out as prizes. That's dedication. I love that he had large photos to use as visual aids to help us digest much of the information he was sharing, too. He was very thoughtful in offering to take photos of us, looking to connect with some of the guests who were alone and on the quiet side and eager to answer any additional questions. Love that he has a website he designed for additional information - very well thought out and useful. He clearly is passionate, dedicated and hard working! If I had one piece of feedback it would be to occasionally stop in a place where some people can sit down while listening. There were a couple stops on our route that were near a few benches - it would have been nice to stop near them so those with really sore feet and legs could rest for 5, 6 minutes. (many of us have already been walking many hours before this tour that day or the previous day) I HIGHLY recommend taking a tour with Robert especially if you are interested in history.

Robert was fantastic, one of the best guru tours we’ve had! Visited many of highlights of this beautiful city where he shared very interesting info about the history of the city and country. Spoke very clearly and loudly so we could all hear him. He was great about answering questions as we walked from place to place. Highly recommend, thank you!

Brilliant independent guide Robert - he was fun, informative, and honest. A fantastic guide with a group of about 20 people!!! I highly recommend this walking tour. He was told anecdotes and explained various political stances throughout Hungary’s history.
