My friend and I went on Slava’s tour and had an AMAZING time! He gave a mix of the history and the folklore. Folklore is such an important aspect of really understanding a place and a culture, and I’ve never experienced a walking tour that holds the intention to add in storytelling & folklore to the history of a place. It was a unique experience to see Sintra from a really special perspective. We couldn’t help but notice at certain locations, people were walking around unlikely knowing the certain aspects of the history that Slava provided that really effected the way we saw and experienced the place. Our only downside was that we didn’t have more time afterwards to spend with Slava and pick his brain about all the other things he knows! Thank you so much for this wonderful tour, Slava.
Slava is a quirky and engaging guide. He’s put a lot of research and effort into his tour. We went to Quinta Regalia in the morning (when it wasn’t so busy) and that gave us context for Slava’s tour. He was very good at answering people’s questions and weaving that new aspect into his stories on the rest of the tour. We also enjoyed learning about the secret societies of the Freemasons in Sintra in c18 and C19 and how to pick up some of secret iconography as we walk around Sintra.
