I would happily recommend this tour with guide Andy, to anyone visiting the city. I have done walking tours in many cities, and this was genuinely one of the most enjoyable. Our guide struck the perfect balance between being knowledgeable and being engaging. He clearly knows Alfama and Lisbon’s history extremely well, but what I appreciated most was his ability to bring that knowledge to life in a way that felt conversational, interesting, and easy to follow. The tour felt like exploring the neighbourhood with a local friend who was passionate about the city and genuinely wanted everyone to have a great experience. And small touches, such as introducing us to one of his favourite pastel de nata spots, added a personal dimension that made the experience feel authentic rather than scripted. I left with a much deeper understanding of Alfama, its history, culture, and character, but also with a real appreciation for the people who call Lisbon home.
