Free Walking Tours through Kraków Communism

The tour was very interesting. My wife and I travel around Europe- esp the states since the late 80's that can now can determine their own future. We visited Poland 30 years ago and its current success is self evident. We only hope the on going threat to its borders doesn't materialise.The tour is good in summarising Polands long journey from oppression to enlightenment. Worthwhile.

This tour is a must if you want to learn about important the war and the sites around the old town that took an important role during the war. The tour guide in an archeologist who is very knowledgeable about the history of the war. The tour is divided by the nazi era and the comunist era. He was so nice and share even personal/family info related to the war. Totally recommended.

Chris was so knowledgeable about Polish history that blows your mind away and he had so many personal stories to share from his grand parents the real stories. He explained to us many complex history events in such detail and with enormous prestigious I couldn’t imagine. I definitely recommend this tour for people who love to hear the real story of the WW2 in Poland.

If you are in to history then this is a great tour to understand what happened to Poland all throughout the 20th Century. Bart has a deep historical knowledge of this period and he imparted some very interesting stories of smaller, less known stories from the period of Nazi occupation and subsequent communist rule. A great way to give a different insight for your visit to Krakow and Poland generally.

Outstanding tour. Chris was excellent, very well-prepared (he is a professional archeologist with deep knowledge in History) and with direct family experience in all the periods. It makes a lot of difference to share direct personal experiences, rather than simple knowledge. I hope this tour to be kept, it is a must for anyone interested in social history. And -without pretending to compare one period with the other- these type of tours should be mandatory for all of us, to keep in mind and in our souls, the terrible effects of tyranny.

Wonderful tour!! Such an interesting and important tour - taking you away from the heart of the tourist areas to learn about the post WW2 history of Krakow. The Nazis, the communists, the wide polish resistance and the fall of communism after the solidarity movement. Bart did an amazing job mixing fact with story, fun with seriousness. Go on this tour!!

We did the Tour with Chris. Defintiely one of the Best Tours we ever did. He Mixed up the BASIC Information with Personal Episoden his relatives experienced Living in the Regimes. We Are heavely recomending this for anybody interesred in 20th Century history.

One of the best freetours we did, and we have done many tours in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, etc. Chris, besides being a person whose family has lived close to World War II and Communism, has been teaching us things throughout the entire tour that we didn't even know, and also with authentic documents of the reality and what happened during these two periods that marked the history of Krakow and Poland. Highly recommended at 200%, and we hope that this tour continues because both periods are important for the history of the city, country, and the world.

The tour takes you off the main tourist areas which we loved. It was fascinating to learn more about communism in the city and also about the impact of John Paul II.
