⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Eye-Opening and Meaningful Experience in Kibera We had a truly memorable and eye-opening experience exploring Kibera with Brian. He spent around two hours walking with us deep into the community, taking the time to explain many different aspects of everyday life in Kibera. Throughout the walk, he gave us detailed insights into how local people live, including housing conditions, access to water and electricity, local culture, education, schools, and the challenges that residents face in their daily lives. He was very knowledgeable and patient, and was always happy to answer our questions and explain the background and context behind what we were seeing. What I appreciated most was that the tour gave us a much deeper and more human understanding of Kibera. Instead of just seeing it from the outside or relying on what we had previously heard about the area, we were able to walk through the community, observe everyday life firsthand, and learn about both the difficulties and the resilience of the people who live there. Brian was also very friendly, responsible, and attentive throughout the entire experience. We felt well looked after during the walk. At the end of the tour, he even personally escorted us all the way to our car and made sure that we got in safely before leaving, which was a very thoughtful gesture and something we really appreciated. Overall, this was much more than just a sightseeing tour. It was an educational and meaningful experience that gave us a perspective on Kibera and local life that we would never have gained from visiting the usual tourist attractions alone. I would highly recommend this guide to anyone who wants to understand Kibera beyond the stereotypes and learn more about the community, its culture, daily life, and people in a respectful and informative way. It was an incredible experience, thanks to Daniel, a young man who lives in Kibera and has dedicated his life to supporting the youth in his community. If you truly want to understand the history of the slum, there is no one better. He will guide you through its narrow alleys, introduce you to the local people, and give you a genuine, firsthand experience in a completely safe and relaxed atmosphere. Daniel is the founder of Okolea Mtaa Foundation (https://www.okolea-mtaa-foundation.org/), an organization that supports education and sports opportunities for young people in Kibera.

I would highly recommend the tour done by Stella and her brother. They managed to show us the real life in Kibera and told us everything about how it was built in the first place, how the infrastructure looks like, what keeps the people busy, what problems people are facing and also what initiatives are active on the ground. The tour has high educational value done by two locals. Completely save and enjoyable.

It was an unique experience and I am so glad I decided to go on this tour. Brian is a humble man but that better not mislead you, he is a pro, has been doing it for years and is literally making a degree in being a guide and his knowledge and ability to pass information is far more than I expected. I learned the history of Kibera, its struggles, highlights and demons. Is it really bad to go and visit a slum? Kibera is an enormous residential area, I think pretending it's not there is worse. It has its own look and its own art. Go with Brian, respect the community and please leave behind as much as you can, people are struggling for real!

We did this tour with Brian, and it was one of the best experiences we had in Nairobi — being able to understand and get closer to the reality of life in Kibera. It’s an area full of art and entrepreneurial people. Brian is an excellent guide; he kindly helped us discover all the details of the place where he grew up. He has very interesting projects and is an active member of the community. If I were to do this tour again, I would definitely do it with him. Brian is incredible. Initially I was concerned about visiting the slum, not wanting to disturb the people in their day to day lives and out of fear that this would feel like displaying their harsh conditions only. But the opposite was the case: We learned so much about the development in the slum and the work and hope people have to improve things. Brian gave us so many details about the area and let us dive deep in into the everyday life there. If you want to do such a tour make sure you do it with a person who actually is from there, and Brian seems perfect for it.

We were genuinely surprised and delighted by how authentic the experience was, surrounded by such kind and joyful people, even given the circumstances — perhaps even more cheerful than in Nairobi itself! At no point did we feel unsafe. They are truly remarkable people who take on the great responsibility of educating and creating opportunities for children and the wider community. The guided tour was fantastic — the respect and admiration they receive from those around them clearly reflect the incredible work they’re doing. We felt both impressed and fortunate to experience it.

Been such a good tour with stella and her brother elijah. We were really suprised and enjoyed the authentic tour among very friendly and happy people despite the circumstances, (if not friendlier and happier than in nairobi itslef). It was not dangerous at all, not a single person asked us for money (well one actually) or tried to hustle us... Also some people are worried its a tour of pity and misery .... ITS Not at ALL!!!
