A great tour and well worth adding into your Vilnius trip. We did the tour on our first day, which then made it easier, and better, to finish exploring more over the next few days. Violet, our guide, was very knowledgeable and passoniate about the history of Lithuania and Vilnius and shared her knowledge in a fun way.

Very good, found a lot about Vilnius for a day visit. Good use of time when only there for a few hours.

Mi experiencia en este tour fue maravillosa. En principio iba a ser una persona, pero al final se unieron varios compañeros y pudimos añadirnos al recorrido sin problema. Además llegamos unos minutos más tarde al punto de encuentro y la guía no solo esperó, sino que también intentó todo lo posible por que pudiéramos unirnos si comenzaba el recorrido. Todas las explicaciones completas, y gracias a eso pudimos explicarles algo de la ciudad a los compañeros que no pudieron asistir. En definitiva una guía muy atenta y un tour muy completo.

Excellent guide who relayed a lot of information about the town in an “easy to listen to” manner. Walk took 150minutes visiting all the main interesting places in the city. So glad that we had booked!

Indre fue muy profesional, nos gustó mucho el tour y la información. Aprendimos muchas cosas sobre Vilnius.

Al principio nos sentimos un poco incomodos, empezó muy rudo. Pero conforme fue avanzando el tour se empezó a soltar y hacer bromas e interactuar más con el grupo. De información nos sentíamos un poco como un Google maps interactivo, nos decía el nombre del edificio y poco más. Igual los últimos lugares explicó un más cosas. Lo que mejoría aún más es esperar a que llegue el grupo al siguiente punto, no nos esperaba e iniciaba su explicación con solo 3-5 personas.

This tour was extremely special. Unlike other options in Vilnius, it takes you to unexpected stories and parts of the capital, such as Šnipiškės, with its 300 19th-century wooden houses, swallowed up by the 21st-century glass and steel skyscrapers. In stark contrast to Žvėrynas, a wealthy neighbourhood that grew up around settlements of noble families, Šnipiškės remains a place where ‘ordinary’ or generally low-income families live. Most of these houses are still heated by wood-burning stoves, and many do not even have running water or sewerage: residents use public drinking fountains, and it is not uncommon to see outdoor toilets. Some streets are still unpaved (such as Šilutė and Saracėnai streets) and are surrounded by private gardens with fruit trees, lilacs and lime trees, maintaining a much slower pace of life than the rest of the capital. Some residents still keep pigeons, which are used in the game of ‘furima’. And an invisible line separates, by just a few metres, what some call an anachronism and others consider a heritage to be preserved at all costs: if you stretch out your hand, you almost feel as though you could touch the skyscrapers of Europe Square. Šnipiškės is obviously a tempting prospect for large construction firms: over the years, there have been numerous stories and investigations into arson attacks allegedly carried out to justify the decision to demolish the wooden houses and make way for glass and concrete. What will become of this part of Vilnius in the future? Will it shrink ever further until it is eventually swallowed up entirely by increasingly ambitious skyscrapers? Or will it survive by fighting back? I really hope that this tour will continue, because it tells stories that you wouldn't find out about otherwise. And thumbs up to Violetta: she was incredibly clear in her stories, kind, and at times funny. Well done! Highly recommended!

This was one of the best walking tours I’ve done so far - mainly because Violet was so entertaining and her dry sense of humour & observations of Lithuanian culture was spot on. The 2.5/3 hours went so fast, didn’t look at my watch once. Her knowledge of the city was incredible and she took us places we’ve never have found without following her. The other tourists on her tour were also good fun too which made it even better. Thank you!
