Hello, my name is Brian and I've been guiding in Edinburgh, Scotland and London for 15 years and very much enjoy showing this fabulous city of Edinburgh to the world. I spent 11 years working at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queens Official Residence in Scotland, before studying in London for a year to gain a Special Diploma in Tour Guiding. Today, my focus is on Edinburgh and Scotland and I love learning more about this beautiful city and country.

About the Tour

This tour is about the art of Edinburgh, because there is a general lack of walking tours in the city about it, and I wanted to provide a tour about a side of Edinburgh ignored by other tours. You should book this tour because it is very different to anything else that you could experience in Edinburgh.

The walking tour takes in a number of different sites in Edinburghs 18th/19th century New Town:

1. Robert Adam's Charlotte Square.

2. The site of one of Fryderyk Chopin's few Scottish performances.

3. The Scottish novelist, Sir Walter Scott's home (no entry), and the story of his positive and negative life.

4. George Street Assembly Rooms. A Georgian dance hall and a place where many famous authors have spoken.

5. Allan Ramsay Statue. Writer of opera, poetry and champion of theatre in Edinburgh.

6. Sir Walter Scott monument and David Livingstone monument, both examples of Amelia Robertson Hill's sculpture work. An example of a female sculpture in Victorian Scotland.

7. The Scottish National Portrait Gallery (no entry).

8. Waverley gate and the story of a 18th/19th century theatre with royal links.

The tour includes my guiding fees. Anything else such as food, drinks, etc is not included in the price. I would advice those attending to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and to bring an umbrella.

Meeting point: Open in Google Maps

How to find me: I'll be at number 8 Charlotte Square, wearing glasses and carrying an umbrella.
