My name is Mahmood, born and raised in Amman, Jordan. Been guiding tours throughout Jordan for 4 years now, it's my full time job, and I Love it! I'm an enthusiast, wanderer, adventurer and nature lover. In matter of fact, I'm specialized in adventure tourism. But, my specialty as well is to show you my wonderful country!
Amman, the capital of Jordan, is bigger and more than what you see by your own eyes, in Amman, there is a story behind the buildings you see, a story in the corners of the neighborhoods you walk through, the shops and the locals. Amman is ancient, historical, religious, modern, cultural and most importantly, it's beautiful! So in this Walking Tour, you will get a taste of what Amman is really like, you will see Amman through local eyes.
Starting from King Abdullah Mosque and the Coptic church next door in Al Weibdeh, we will visit the mosque and explore the fascinating interior before walking through one of the oldest neighborhoods in Amman, Jabal Weibdeh, considered as the hipster, bohemian area in the city. Walking towards the Downtown, we will visit Darat Al Funun Art gallery with its beautiful views towards Amman hills and terraces style buildings, then taking the colorful stairs (Al Kalha stairs) to Amman Downtown where you will see shops around every corner before we keep walking through the Souks (a term for an area with many shops), we will sample the traditional sweets, Kenafah and visiting the oldest building in downtown, The Douk's Diwan. We will continue walking through the Souk seeing one of the oldest mosques in Jordan, Al Husseini mosque, then we will see the magnificent Roman ruins The Nymphaeum, before ending our tour at The Roman Theater.
Useful information:
** Depending on our pace, the tour should take approximately 3 hours.
**Please note that you will have to buy your own entrance fees tickets and optional if you want to sample Kenafeh/Juices with me!
I will be the only guy who is standing by the door with a big curly hair :)
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
