Hi how are you?? My name is Carolina, I am an official guide and passionate about nature and history, I have traveled almost all of Argentina, southern Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay, central / northern Chile and central / southern Mexico, I have lived in Greece for two years and I have dedicated myself to touring the Cyclades islands on foot, although I still have several to visit, I have already accumulated good information about some of them (Santorini, Tirassia, Anafi, Paros, Syros) and I think you do like walking, nature and history, this tour is perfect for you.
The tour starts from the outskirts of Emporio town, where we can admire the windmills, Emporio town , Pyrgos castle , some of the orthodox churches and the panoramic view of the Aegean beach to recharge our batteries.
Our tour continues through the fields and houses of local people, where we can also see some of the cave dwellings and a panoramic view of Akrotiri Castle , we will make a small stop at one of the island's inner viewpoints to have a beautiful view of the Caldera , from from here we continue to the town of Akrotiri. At this point we end the tour and have the option to visit the city and the castle inside or visit the archaeological site of Akrotiri.
Websites we will visit:
I recommend that this is your first tour as it will give you an idea of how the island is made up, where the main cities are located and help you decide which places to visit depending on your time and preferences.
Also keep in mind that this is a small group tour focused on discovering nature and understanding its history.
At the end of the tour, you can take the local bus back to your place of stay.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You should bring water, a hat, sunscreen, comfortable clothes and a snack as there is no kind of trade until you reach the town of Akrotiri from where there are lighted restaurants, shops and others.
Grande sombrero!!
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
