About the Tour

I look forward to welcoming you on my free 2 hour walking tour of Munich.

I am new to Guruwalk, but not to tour guiding, as I have done this job in Munich for over 4 years. Come see why my tours over that time have been so highly rated. I aim to make the tour interesting, fun and without the boring bits !

I have carefully condensed the most important and interesting aspects of Munich into a 2 hour, so you can still make use of your day for additional sightseeing. I will also be making sure I give you lots of tips on what to Eat, Drink and See, after the tour !

We start off in Marienplatz and take in the town halls and the Glockenspiel (we only watch this during the morning tour). After explaining the origins of Munich, we head to the beautiful Viktualienmarkt. A chance to see what fuels the cities inhabitants and time to talk about the unique food, beer and Biergarten culture.
Walking past the grand buildings of the 19th century, we see what inspired the kings of Bavaria, and naturally we touch on the darker history of Munich during the Third Reich.
I also want to give you some perspective on modern Munich, and plenty of recommendations for things to see and do after the tour!

Meeting point: Open in Google Maps

How to find me: Look for me at the fish fountain( fischbrunnen)on Marienplatz. If you are looking at the large historical building that dominates Marienplatz, the fountain is to right hand-side close to the Ludwig beck department store. I will be holding a multicoloured umbrella. Please arrive 5 minutes before the tour start time. Late comers may find locating the tour difficult, and miss out.

Aileen was a real treat as a guide! She is funny, knowledgeable and goes out of her way to make everyone feel included. This was a great intro tour to Munich and just the right amount of history. She had great tidbits and pointers, and an interesting perspective on life in Bavaria. Really enjoyed this tour and would definitely recommend!

Very friendly and approachable. Gave lots of additional information to help the rest of our time in Zurich go better. Always had time to answer questions and was very knowledgeable. Very clear and ‘entertaining’ on the tour. We really enjoyed our afternoon,

Aileen was a phenomenal tour guide! She meticulously planned a route to ensure that we have a good overview of the history and beginnings of Munich. This was such a good way to start our journey in this beautiful city and we left with lots of good recommendations from Aileen on what to do for the next couple of days in our stay. Would recommend to everyone who is here in Munich! Learned a lot :)
