I'm an insatiable traveler with one foot in books and armchair philosophy and the other in the living history of urban and natural landscapes, museums, monuments, libraries, second-hand bookstores and restaurants. I studied philosophy and history in Bologna, Tübingen and Stockholm learning several languages in the meanwhile. I also play the guitar and love singer-songwriting and folk music. I have a fondness for theater, for being on stage, a curiosity for Nordic culture and an untamable interest for the city of Stockholm.
Uppsala is an elegant Swedish town a few kilometers from Stockholm. The city hosts one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world , the largest cathedral in Northern Europe (119m high, more than the cathedral of Florence) and the famous silver Bible in the Carolina Rediviva university library. Uppsala is also the birthplace of notable academics and scientists such as Anders Celsius, Dag Hammarskjöld, Carl Linnaeus and the famous director Ingmar Bergman . In this tour I will tell you about the history of the city in relation to Swedish history and I will take you to know the corners of this little gem. The tour includes an external visit to the castle, the botanical gardens of Carl von Linneaus, the Linneanum, Gustavianum, Carolina Rediviva and above all an internal visit to the Cathedral!
I will wave an Italian flag on the Dombron Bridge (Dombron Bridge, very close to the Cathedral).
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
