Hiking Tour to 3 Crosses Monument in Cali
Tour description
Cali is Latin America's sports capital, and this tour is a sample of that.
*Most of my tours are personalized. When you book, you could be the only booking*
First, some history.
Almost 200 years ago, 1827, rumor had it a demon had arrived to the city, people started reporting seeing a human figure with huge bat wings flying atop the hills to the north of Cali. Terror had struck the city! In come from Popayán, 2 catholic priests that with a religious spell, lock the demon 'Buziraco' under a monument, with the yearly custom of walking up there in religious procession to keep the demon under control... The 3 Crosses Monument.
Fast forward to today, and the '3 crosses' (las tres cruces) is by far the most popular hike amongst locals all year long, while the religious procession happens exclusively during holy week or easter.
A TOUR WITH HIGH PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS, NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.
Although this is Cali's most popular hike, I would rate this 8/10 in difficulty. First time I did it, my legs hurt for 3 days (hydration, warming up and stretching are important!)
Going up can take 1 hour (hard mode) or up to 1.5 hours (moderate mode). I will be there for you. We can take as much time as you need, or head back if necessary. It is a 1.5 kilometer hike on average and we'll be doing the Bataclán route. Please check this article to understand better. It's in Spanish, try to translate it with Google https://picoloro.co/rutas-en-el-cerro-de-las-tres-cruces-en-cali/
It is done by local kids and elders, so it's not extreme, but it's highly demanding.
Let's sweat and get our heart pumping. I promise the view from the top is worth it!
