Free walking tours in San Salvador

We had a walking tour with Carlos in San Salvador and it was such an amazing experience . He is an incredible guide! Extremely knowledgeable, engaging and passionate about sharing the history and culture of El Salvador. We learned so much and appreciated how clearly and thoughtfully he explained everything. We enjoyed every minute and highly recommend touring with Carlos if you have the chance!

I have been following the Bukele Presidency closely and talked to a few El Salvadoran since i arrived. I feel Dave gave a very pro ( one sided) Bukele angle on everything.....it is known that journalists who critique the President have had to leave the country.....maybe Dave felt ( not knowing any of us today) that it would be best to stick to " the message " . His knowledge of past history is deep mixed with personal family experience makes the tour very interesting. Dave has a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Thanks Dave.

It was an amazing tour , so much history so much love just a lot of greatness to take in. I didn't even know I would learn so much about this country during a walking tour and im so grateful I did it you'll get to try so many flavors of Sal Savador along the way !

The tour was amazing, Javier is so kind and nice, taught us a lot about the places we visited and also gave us a realistic perspective on what life is like in El Salvador which was really cool and at the end we had fireworks because an event in the city, what an amazing way to end the tour ;)

Amazing experience! Dave was a fantastic tour guide—super informative, engaging, and clearly passionate about El Salvador. You can tell he genuinely loves his country, and that energy made the whole tour even more enjoyable. I learned so much and really appreciated the local insights and stories he shared. My only suggestion would be to build in a short stop where guests can sit down and try pupusas at a local restaurant. It would be the perfect way to experience the culture through its food and take a quick break before continuing the tour. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting!

Erik was great. We booked the 3pm tour the same day and confirmed with him via whatsapp. He was punctual, informative, and friendly. There were only 3 of us and he still conducted the full tour. We really enjoyed the tour and I’m glad we were able to experience it. If you’re thinking about booking it, do it!

Dave is truly the best guide! We loved his tour and left it with such an appreciation for San Salvador. Javier was amazing and taught us so much about history, culture, food and more on the tour. We learned a lot and got to try horchata and to play capirucho. We really enjoyed the tour!

Really good overview of El Salvador recent history. Javier showed us the most iconic sites in Centro Historico.

The tour with Dave was amazing! Very impressed and good

Tour was mixed - some participants liked it and some felt similar to me. Way too much time was spent on standing in the park (1. Hr) listening to history at the beginning, which meant the end was rushed and we missed the inside of the churches and the top floor views in the library. More time should’ve focused on the actual histoeical centre and ideally the tour would be flipped around so that the most important stuff is not rushed or missed. The history talks can easily be spread out at the different sites, which would also allow more time for photo taking. The horchata and market stops were nice, as was use of the iPad. The focus though should be on walking and seeing the city as tourists have come all this way. Some of the history info can be shared to view or watch later, as important and interesting as it is.
