Walk Less, Eat More with Katherine
Tour description
Welcome to “Chengdu in 1000 Steps” — a short but flavor-packed walking tour through one of Chengdu’s most beloved neighborhoods: Yulin. In just two hours, we’ll explore a small area full of big flavors, hitting 5–6 authentic local food stops where young Chengdu locals actually eat. You'll savor sweet fermented rice with ice jelly and tofu pudding, bite into famous sweet-skinned duck, warm up with spicy malatang, nibble on crispy corn cakes, and sink your teeth into smoky grilled rabbit legs — all within easy walking distance. Of course, the menu can be adjusted to your preferences, but if you're feeling adventurous, you're welcome to try local favorites like chicken feet or even rabbit head! Along the way, I’ll share fun insights into Chengdu’s modern lifestyle, youth culture, and the local “bashi” (chill) attitude that defines this laid-back city. This isn’t a touristy food street crawl — it’s a real slice of daily life, where we eat, chat, and experience Chengdu like a friend would show you. This flavorful journey begins at the bustling Yulin Comprehensive Market and ends nearby, giving you an authentic taste of local life without straying far. If you’re short on time but hungry to experience the real Chengdu, this tour is made for you — come hungry, leave happy.
