Description
One hour, one city and around 800 years of history.
On this compact city walk, we cross Bolzano from Walther Square to Victory Square. The idea is not to tick off as many sights as possible, but to understand the city and its history through a short walk.
From Walther Square we continue to the Grain Market and then through the arcades, the heart of medieval Bolzano and its trading history. We discover why the typical houses along the arcades are so narrow and deep, and stop in front of the Mercantile Building, which tells the story of Bolzano's importance as a trading town.
Through a passageway, we then see one of the arcade houses from a different perspective. From there we reach the Fruit Market, still home to Bolzano's traditional street market, and continue towards the Archaeological Museum.
Of course, we also meet Ötzi and discover the role the Iceman plays in Bolzano's tourism today.
We then leave the historic centre behind. On the other side of the Talvera River, a completely different Bolzano appears. At Victory Square, we talk about the changes brought by Fascism, the coexistence of different language groups and why South Tyrol's autonomy plays such an important role in Bolzano today.

Guiding since 2026My name is Till Antonio Mola. I have lived in Bolzano since 1967 and have been telling the story of this city for many years from different perspectives: through radio, writing and guided tours.
I am interested in finding new ways to present Bolzano: its stories, contrasts and transformations. For me, walking tours are also a way to explore new forms of urban storytelling, through walks that connect history, people and the lived city.
