Free Museum Tours in Cairo

Egypt is definitely fascinating and Dawooh is a very entertaining and knowledgeable guide and very enjoyable and warm person that will take care of you during the tour.

Mohammed is a wealth of knowledge. It gets a bit overwhelming sometimes. He was enthusiastic, friendly and did a good job. There are some things i wanted to mention. I came as a solo female. There were some comments made where i felt uncomfortable. There was a certain point in the tour where i asked is this "screen" normal nowadays as women hiding behind so they can't be seen. "He indicated not so much but it is traditional. For example, if you were my wife and my friend came over. I would not want him seeing my wife." Comments like this just made me feel weird. Additionally, i have many friends in cairo that informed me of the standard tip based system with guruwalk. All throughout europe i have used guruwalk and often tip 5-10 euros and never been a problem. I asked friends what is normal and they indicated for a good tour 50-150 egp if really good you can give 200 egp. But not for something like a museum as it is only knowledge based. Not like he is providing me a service. Things like luxor, abu simbel temples those things are normal for this kind of tip. I gave him 140egp tip after pushing and he indicated this is very little and wanted money in dollars. He then requested 25 euros for a tip. Never have i paid so much in guruwalk for a ONE museum tour. He then continued with haggling and indicated his ticket cost his uber cost and more. I'm not here to cover your uber or extra charges to get here. If you would like to be covered for all this he needs to work for an official tour company. Viator, get your guide etc all have official tours people pay $30+ for , not a company that budget travelers use for free tours. I felt pushed. 140egp is a great tip still. I didn't like our encounter. As a solo female i do not encourage him. Just keep this in mind based on how many people you come with. Nontheless of our encounter, hagglinf and cheating is common in egypt. Proceed with caution. He is a wealth of knowledge despite this all.

Mohamed is the best tour guy in town. Amazing with a child with special needs! Do not doubt in contacting him if you have doubts… He was supportive and kind since the beginning and he gave me such a positive vibe. He knew everything about the museum! He took the time to explain us everything in a professional manner. After our tour, he even helped us with all our concerns and he stayed longer without hesitation. Mohamed was very knowledgeable of the topic and made quite a complete tour. He answered all of our questions, although not all were related specifically to the tour, and we end up spending much more time than the one initially expected!

Dawood was an amazing tour guide. We started our journey just outside the Egyptian civilization, he was on time and ready to go. We were allowed to sneak in a quick breakfast, before the tour, which was great, because we did not manage to eat before. There were just 5 of us, so we could ask as many additional questions as we liked. Daewoo is very knowledgeable, he was flexible and knew his way around the museum. Then we were advised where to eat delicious food, which was decently priced. Next we went to see the pyramids and the sfinks, the views were incredible, moreover Daewoo shared with us history and anegdotes about these wonders and the area in general. Daewoo had his professional camera with him, took very creative pictures. It was the best experience with a tour guide we had so far. Daewoo was very flexible, accommodating, shared his culture and knowledge with us.

Mohammad was wonderful. Best guide I have had in Egypt so far. We delved into topics ranging from historical mummies to modern religion, with Mohammad open to sharing his own stories, life, and heritage with our small group of 4 people. Mohamed did an amazing tour for us at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation. He was very knowledgeable and followed a great itinerary explaining everything chronologically. Mohamed is incredibly knowledgeable and is really passionate to share the history of his country. He genuinely cares for us to get to know interesting details, and did a great job in connecting the dots between the pyramid tour and the visit in the museum. We booked this tour with Mohamed to the National Museum of Egyption Civilization. It was just fantastic! I always had a hard time, to find a tour guide in Egypt with a very good knowledge of culture, history, way of life in Egypt etc. But Mohamed is the one! He is the one, we would also ask to go with us, when we travel to Luxor or Assuan or anywhere else in Egypt again. He is a real expert. He helped us in every situation and is extremely trustable, polite and very very friendly. He adjust to the speed of sightseeing we decide and also what we wanted to see next. We had a terrific tour with Mohammed. He picked us up at our hotel and took us to the museum where he gave us a great tour, hitting the highlights and making the most of our two hours. He provided interesting information and conducted a most efficient visit. He then took us to the bazaar and was very helpful in finding us what we wanted and offered tips in negotiating. It was a great day and I would highly recommend this tour.
