Tour description
The Barrio de La Latina route, the REAL MADRID: a journey in time from the origins of the Town to the most AUTHENTIC present day of Madrid allows you to (re)discover this emblematic neighborhood in the heart of Madrid from a new perspective.
This is a route suitable for all types of explorers: whether you come from outside or from Madrid , even if you have lived in this neighborhood all your life, this route is for you .
Because?
Because day after day we pass by authentic gems without hardly realizing it. We become strangers in our own city.
It also happens that many times, when we visit a city that is not our own, we miss a large part of its essence because we are unaware of its history.
As?
Over the course of a couple of hours, we will walk through emblematic places in the neighborhood and discover details and secrets unnoticed by most. We will also see much more intimate places, which often go unnoticed before our eyes.
We will find a city that we thought we knew and we will end up surprised to discover everything that it is silent about.
It is likely that day after day we pass in front of charming little squares and hidden gardens that remain silent and hide from our distracted walk. This route helps you discover them .
For 2 kilometers we tour the neighborhood and also its surroundings, from the well-known Arco de Cuchilleros, to the beautiful Vistillas viewpoint, passing through hidden places hidden in plain sight and rediscovering monuments and enclaves that are striking for their history and photography.
The main points (but not the only ones) that this route passes through are:
- Arco de Cuchilleros ( starting point, at the top of the arch )
- Door closed
- Cascorro and the Rastro
- Old hospital of La Latina
- La Cebada Market
- Old Arab wall
- Plazas del Humilladero, Cars and Straw
- Vistillas Garden ( end point of the tour, near the Royal Palace, the Almudena Cathedral and the Plaza de Ópera ).
If you are from the La Latina neighborhood or the downtown area, it is very possible that you have already visited these places, but do you really know their history?
In Barrio de La Latina, the REAL MADRID: a journey through time from the origins of the town to the most AUTHENTIC present day of Madrid, we have everything from old pits converted into cellars to skyscrapers from the 1600s, passing through gardens and orchards hidden in amidst noble buildings, a Crawler and even one of the largest domes in Europe.
And the best: we will find proof that Madrid hides its best secret right in the center: a medieval town hidden in the middle of the city .
Do you dare to know all these secrets? Go ahead and book and discover everything this city has to offer you!
