Zimi Nakeni is a South African entrepreneur, cultural storyteller, and community-driven leader, best known as the founder of Mojo 021 Explora, a Cape Town-based experiential tourism company. With a deep passion for people, place, and purpose, Zimi has built a brand that goes beyond traditional tourism—creating immersive experiences that connect visitors to the true heartbeat of the city.
Based in Cape Town, Mojo 021 Explora was founded on the belief that tourism should be meaningful, inclusive, and transformative. Under Zimi’s leadership, the company offers curated walking tours, cultural explorations, and tailored urban experiences that highlight the rich heritage, diversity, and untold stories of the city. His vision is to allow every guest to experience Cape Town not just as a destination, but as a living narrative.
Zimi’s journey into tourism and entrepreneurship is rooted in his upbringing in the Eastern Cape and his experience in Johannesburg. He previously founded the Zimi Nakeni Tourism Company, where he focused on promoting local travel and reconnecting communities with South Africa’s hidden gems. This foundation shaped his mission to use tourism as a tool for empowerment and social impact.
Beyond business, Zimi is deeply committed to community development and leadership. He serves as a Board of Trustees member for the Tsolo Development Hub in the Eastern Cape and is the founder and chairperson of the Kliptown Innovative Native Group of Services in Johannesburg. His work in these spaces reflects a long-standing dedication to youth empowerment, grassroots development, and community upliftment.
