Historical Center Tour: A Journey Through History, Art, and Cuisine!

Ian is very fluent in English and is able to give a local insight on Mexico City's food and culture. We enjoyed the historical facts provided during the tour. We explored a very local food market that tourists wouldn't normally vexplore, which is very much appreciated. Most of the food was very delicious. Enjoy!

Our guide was friendly and knowledgable. The tour included stops at 2 taco stands plus 1 restaurant that served the tacos. The tacos at all 3 were very good!

This was a fun and relaxed tour. Renato made it very entertaining but is clearly also very knowledgeable! We have done many Guru walking tours - it’s a great way to get your bearings in a city - and this one was right up there. Thanks Renato!

Nicht nur das Essen der vielen kleinen Marktstände waren top, die uns Ian gezeigt hat, sondern auch all die Informationen zu Mexico (City) konnte uns Ian beantworten 😊 Richtig guter Start für die Reise durch Mexiko! Danke Ian!

Cannot recommend Ian's tour enough! Not only the food places he took us were amazing, but also he was very professional and knowledgable, told us lots of interesting things about history of Mexican food and traditions. He is very considerable with your food restrictions (like if you are vegetarian, you will still have lots of options). We enjoyed a lot, left fool and learned a lot of new things.

Ian was great! He knows a lot about Mexican food culture and was able to answer all of our questions. He is very friendly and easy-going. The tour was very thorough and we tried lots of different food options. There were even many vegan options. Would highly recommend!:)

Renato knows his stuff and he is passionate and professional. I would happily join any of his other tours. We were disappointed when it finished and would easily have carried on for another 2 hours.

Ian's food tour of Mixcoac was 10/10 for the food and experience! It felt like a very authentic experience, celebrating Mexico's diverse food culture, sampling its different street food dishes and exploring the bustling Mercado de Mixcoac. Ian was very informative about the culture, history and orgin of these dishes and ingredients, adding colour to the tour. He had a very good communication style and was very attentive to my many questions. I would wholly recommend this tour to other food lovers!

I ended up solo on this tour and Ian was lovely. We tried many different foods and went through the market. Ian is very knowledgeable and I highly recommend this tour. We didn't do the fruit and I didn't try the tacos because I was stuffed by the time we got there! Churros would have been a nice addition but it's not listed so wasn't expected.

Ian's tour was wonderful! I loved that it got me out of the touristy areas and into Mixcoac, a commuter's area with a booming food scene. Ian shared fun facts about the area throughout the tour, and the food was absolutely delicious.

We got a lot of information about a lot of different topics, which made it a perfect first introduction to Mexico-city and which kept the walk interesting the whole time! Belén is very friendly and knows the answer to all of our questions.

Glorious food, great stories, and a guide who explains everything, giving you the context and history behind every taco. It doesn’t feel like a tour, it feels like eating with friends: you meet people from all over the world and end up sharing tacos, laughs, and stories. Totally recommend it.

This is an amazing tour thanks to Ian! The other walkers cancelled/rescheduled last minute (their loss) so it was just me. I offered for Ian to cancel but he still did the tour! He is knowledgeable, kind, funny, and smart. He is passionate about the 'off the beaten path' neighborhood this tour takes place and passionate about the food. I got to try different things (other than tacos) that I may have never tried thanks to Ian. He is passionate about the food and community based practices as well. If you want to go to a place that tourists probably never go and sample food that tourists eat have with an amazing guide, I highly recommend this tour!!! It was the highlight of my trip!

I’ve been eating tacos for years and figured there wasn’t much left to learn. Wrong. After walking through the Centro on this tour, I realized every dish has centuries of history behind it. Our guide explained it all nice and easy, like a buddy telling you a story over a beer. The food was unreal, and I’d go back in a heartbeat.
