Essential Free walking tours of Salvador

We really enjoyed the free walking tour of historic Salvador, starting at Castro Alves Square and ending in Pelourinho. The 2.5-hour tour was well-paced and covered a great mix of history, culture, and local context. Our guide, Eduardo, was very knowledgeable and provided detailed explanations throughout in clear and easy-to-follow English. He shared fascinating stories about Salvador’s past, architecture, and cultural influences, which made the experience engaging and informative from start to finish. The route itself was excellent, giving a great overview of the historic centre while allowing time to appreciate key landmarks along the way. As a tip-based tour, it offered excellent value, and we were happy to contribute a gratuity at the end. Overall, a great introduction to Salvador and highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn more about the city’s rich history.

It was a great experience overall. Our Guru was passionate and keen to educate. His English is not the greatest which caused a bit of a barrier but considering the language barrier we experience throughout our stay, he did very well and he also highlighted that he is learning English which is impressive. It was such a nice and informative experience, we were also lucky to have a nice group of people. Got to know a lot of people from different parts of the world.

It was a great pleasure to join Adriano and discover the neighbourhood of Pelhourinho! He was such a nice guide, full of information, relaxed and a good photographer when we needed our picture taken :) It gave us an insight of what to do and how to navigate the area. Thanks to his tips we went to a beautiful folklore Bahian show and had great food at Cuco bistro with live music on the square. Highly recommend, especially Adriano, which by the way, was fluent in English and such a nice person.

Adriano was my tour leader. He shared a lot of valuable information and was mostly energetic. I liked that he answered all questions. Tour was just about 2 hours long. I enjoyed the tour and left feeling better informed of Pelourinho and Salvador in general. (He accepts tips with credit card... haha so Brazilian).

Adriano was incredible. His English was great, he really knew the history, politics and economics and was passionate about the stories he told. He had great answers to our questions. He did not try to sell us anything or take us to his friends to have them sell something. Highly recommend his services.
