A Bali local, I am a knowledgeable and passionate young guide fluent in English after living in Australia for 7 years. I was inspired to start Tirta Tours to provide insightful walking tours like the ones I had experienced whilst traveling through Europe. Yudis gained all his knowledge of Balinese and Indonesian culture and history by reading books, watching documentaries and listening to stories from his family who wants him to always stay true to his roots. I have travelled much through Europe, South-East Asia and Australia as I love to learn from the different places and people I visit. My next travel goal is to explore more islands in the Indonesian archipelago.

About the tour

The Tirta Empul Water Temple is an ancient Hindu temple believed to be built by the Balinese royal family in 962 AD. Once you enter Tirta Empul, you will be greeted by the unique sculptures and artistic beauty of the temple that sits in a valley with a tropical jungle backdrop. This large temple is famous for its holy purification springs in its central courtyard. To this day, Balinese people from all over the island still flock to the holy springs of Tirta Empul to purify their spirits. Tirta Empul is part of an area in Bali registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012.

On this 1.5-hour walking tour inside Tirta Empul, you will not only be able to admire the cultural beauty of Tirta Empul, but also learn the history behind this unique temple and the culture of Bali. You will be led by our passionate local guides who will share with you their immense local knowledge. Our guides know that the true value of a place lies in the story behind its beauty, so feel free to ask them any questions you have regarding the culture, history and places you visit in Bali.
