I'm an active tour guide and pride myself on my ability to add personal touches to every tour I conduct. It is extremely important to me that my guests return home with experiences to remember. My greatest passions is shopping and gathering information about where to buy what. Hence, I provide personal shopper services ensuring hassle-free purchasing and fair prices. I am looking forward to welcoming you here in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.

About the tour

I will take you out of town to spend time at the city’s outlying attractions and relax at the beautiful Indian Ocean beach resorts.

Experience being part of Africa’s fastest growing city away from the tourist trail! You will haggle alongside residents with the friendly market traders for local produce and goods before visiting our National Sports Stadium (home of Tanzania’s national football team).

I'll also take you to visit the largest University in the country (UDSM), Mlimani City Shopping Mall, Village Museum, Mwenge Craft Market. This tour takes in a panoramic view over Dar es Salaam so you get a feel of its size and diversity. Visit the largest shopping Mall in Tanzania and local craft markets where you can pick up unique handmade African souvenirs to remember your visit.

What's the price?

A guruwalk is a pay-what-you want walking tour, which means, it's completely free to book and join the group, but the 'guru' expects to be rewarded once the tour ends. Some people give 5, some people give 50, you choose the price.

Reservations in advance are mandatory because if the 'guru' doesn't see any bookings one day, she will not show up at the meeting point. Or if she has too many 'walkers' that day, won't allow you to join without the reservation. Booking is completely free, fast and easy. Book your guruwalk now!

Derick is a warm and friendly guide, very knowledgeable about his city. He took me to the craftsmen's market where I witnessed the rough creative process of the slum artists, made a powerful impression on me. We visited the Open Air Museum, the local football stadium and the grounds of the Dar university. Derick's English is very good and of course I've learned a few basics in Swahili.

I warmy recommend this tour to all those who want to dive into the local culture. Asante sana, Derick!
