SOVIET BERLIN! Treptow War Memorial and the Soviet Narrative of History
Tour description
Do you want to know what no one has told us? Discover history from the Soviet perspective and understand the origins of the division of Berlin, Germany, and Europe? This is the tour for you!
For four years now, I've been offering this tour to art and history enthusiasts looking to get away from the more commercial tours.
We'll learn about the history and symbolism of the most impressive monument to the Soviet legacy in Berlin . Europe's largest anti-fascist memorial and Germany's largest military cemetery will teach us about Soviet art, Hitler's expansion across Europe, the forgotten victims of World War II, Stalin's policies, and many other issues that shaped the lives of Berliners and Germans for 50 years.
An essential tour to understand 20th-century German history.
Some tour contents:
The roots of the German division
The Battle of Berlin and the end of the war.
The Great Patriotic War or the Soviet account of history.
Stalinism and art.
War memorials and historical memory
Communism; the new Religion.
Lebensraum; Hitler's plans in Eastern Europe.
Violations and abuses against the civilian population.
And much more...
*Tours will be conducted with a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 25. If the group is smaller, I will contact you directly to let you know and try to arrange another date.
*Since I run the tour in small groups, aiming for a more participatory experience, and I pay a tourist fee, it's cost-effective for me to start at €10 per person. Please keep this in mind when making your payment. Thank you very much !
