About the Tour

Modernism in Spain had its capital in Barcelona , but Palma , as it is the first sister in the Catalan world, also had its influence , and from the hand of the best, such as Gaudí.
In the middle of a medieval, Renaissance and Baroque city , modernist buildings are like a pearl necklace - yes, a necklace, because you practically count them with your hands - hidden waiting to be discovered and to be impacted by its revolution of curves, irregular shapes, textures and colors.

This is what this colorful and different journey through the beautiful Palma is all about: discovering these jewels of modernism , analyzing them, relating them to the works of the same architects in Barcelona and with other works of modernism, art nouveau , secessione viennese - according to the name that acquired this current in -Spain, France or Austria- around the world-.

Starting with the Cathedral , the focus of the great Gaudí's intervention, the walk will continue through the Can Barceló, the Can Corbella, the Casa de las Medias, the Can Forteza Rey building and the El Águila Shops (the only example of modernism in its secessione viennese version), the Can Casasayas and the Pensión Menorquina, among others, to finish at the Gran Hotel -the first great hotel in Palma, from the early 20th century, today one of the great cultural centers of the city.

Meeting point: Open in Google Maps

How to find me: I will be at the Portal of the Cathedral that looks towards the old Almudaina Palace
