Yogyakarta: Malioboro Free Walking Tour

Learning about the people, their culture and tradition, can be done easily by being amongst them with the right Guru. This tour is a good introduction to the city and it's culture, tradition and the heritage of Javanese, especially for those who just arrived in the city.

We will walk along the famous Malioboro area from north to the south. Along the way, we will pass some heritage buildings with stories of their own.

Some point of interests along our journey:
1. White Pal
2. Tugu Train Station
3. Chinese influence architectures
4. Governor's Office
5. Chinatown
6. Central Market
7. Vredeburg Fort
8. Presidential Palace
9. Ground Zero of Yogyakarta City
10. North Square (Alun-alun Utara)

Beside those, we will also make some stops so you can enjoy local food and drink, among others are: kopi joss (coffee with burning charcoal), bakpia (sweet pies), lunpia (spring rolls), and jamu (herbal drink). Please come with empty stomach :)
I will pay for these food samples, if you want more you can purchase it yourself.

Please note that this tour is one-way route from the north to the south. If you are taking motorcycle or scooter and park near the Tugu Monument, you will need to find your own way to go back there.

Please also kindly note that this tour runs with a minimum of 4 participants. If by two hours before the tour starts the minimum number of the participants has not been reached, it is with regret that the tour will be cancelled. Thank you for your kind understanding.

Guiding since 2021
Hello and Good Day! My name is Gagat, living in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I have been guiding since 2009. Since I was young, I have a great interest in hospitality industry. My experiences in this industry started with a post at a travel agency as their tour planner, then became an instructor at tourism school, guiding and leading a group tour. I also had a blessing when I worked for an international organization, that was an eye-opener for me. From my interactions with colleagues from all over the world, I learned a lot. Not only developed my English, but also gain a better understanding about respect and commitment. I like having ice coffee and chat over various topics. Above all, I love to share the beauty of my people and country with you. Ah ya... I am a train and plane spotter. So, if during our journey, I automatically look up to the sky when I hear the roaring engines, or waiting at the train crossing excitedly, please forgive me for that :) Let's live our dreams... one journey at a time
