Yogyakarta: Malioboro Street Free Walking Tour

Duration: 1h and 30min
Languages: English

Hello and Good Day! My name is Gagat, living in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I have been guiding since 2009. Since I was young, I have a great interest in hospitality industry. My experiences in this industry started with a post at a travel agency as their tour planner, then became an instructor at tourism school, guiding and leading a group tour. I also had a blessing when I worked for an international organization, that was an eye-opener for me. From my interactions with colleagues from all over the world, I learned a lot. Not only developed my English, but also gain a better understanding about respect and commitment. I like having ice coffee and chat over various topics. Above all, I love to share the beauty of my people and country with you. Ah ya... I am a train and plane spotter. So, if during our journey, I automatically look up to the sky when I hear the roaring engines, or waiting at the train crossing excitedly, please forgive me for that :) Let's live our dreams... one journey at a time

Gagat was great, all what I expect from a free tour, some local info, some personal stories related to the place, some historical info, humor, and get to try a lot of local food and drinks that otherwise I would not. Beside all this I kept asking questions and he answered all of them with kindness and patience. Totally recommend it.

Was a great experience a lot of information we have tried also local snacks. Feel free to ask questions. Unfortunately our trip didn't go until the end as there was heavy rain. I very much encourage everyone to take this tour as you can get information also for other activities in Yogyakarta. Thanks Gagat for a great afternoon/evening.

Great Time with Gagat! He showed us details in the street (like the trees, the lamps, the houses) and explained a lot about the history of Yogyakarta. Through his explications a total new side of the city appeared to us ! Also he showed us many different dishes and drinks, typical from Java, he paid attention to our eating habitudes, because half of the group was vegetarian, we discovered so tasty vegetarian food ! The tour took 3h and Gagat was always looking after us and arranging things without that we could notice (like ordering food). Very special evening, it was amazing to stay with a local and to learn from him. Thank you !
