Welcome to Santigua de los Caballeros , which is the original name of Antigua Guatemala during colonial times.
The tour consists of a walk of approximately three hours, during my tour the most important places in the city are visited such as:

  • Cathedral
  • Palace of the Captains
  • City hall
  • Parque la Union (public laundry facilities)
  • Jade Factory
  • Souvenir Market
  • Santo Domingo House
  • Arch Street
  • and ends at the Church of La Merced

Hugo met us and walked us over to Roberto. Roberto gave The 3 hour tour which wad great but we were taken aback when we gave $150 quetzals for the 3 of us but were told the minimum was 300 Q which we gave to him because we were in shock and it is not in our nature to argue. We were surprised to have a minimum when Guru walk is by donation. It was the first guru walk we ever did and I will be very Leary to do another.

Hugo never showed up, didn’t respond to my messages and then, the day after the tour, claimed I had canceled 3 weeks earlier.

Hugo was a delight. He is very intelligent and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t recommend this tour to someone who’s looking to have fun or see tourist traps but if you are truly interested in the history and culture of the town it’s perfect. Hugo is great explaining the history of the area and showing you major historical sites. It’s clear he has a kind heart and is a great guide
