The faces of the Spanish exile in Toulouse - Free Tour
Tour description
Do we know our history? Do we know who does it?
What if one of the most recent historical episodes in Spain were told to us in France?
After the Spanish Civil War many people were forced to leave the country. Some 500,000 crossed the border and of these some 150,000 arrived in Toulouse.
We will know the places but in a different way; We will do it knowing remembered characters and heroes and others unfairly forgotten by history. How these people managed to get ahead, far from home, far from their family and with an adverse political situation at European level.
We will start at Dupuy Square , in front of the Halle aux Grains, from there we will go down to François Verdier Avenue, Saint Georges Square, the Capitol, the former PSOE and UGT headquarters, Rue Pargaminières, Saint Pierre Square and finally we will finish on the Paseo del Exilio Republicano in the Saint Cyprien neighborhood.
Join me to get to know the city that became the desperate hope of thousands of Spaniards, the Ville Rose from a totally different point of view.
You dare?
