Nihonbashi: Cultural walk through the history of the heart of Tokyo
Hi! I'm a city planner that gets to work on the most amazing city in the world: Tokyo! I guide architecture students and visiting professionals to discover the culture behind modern Tokyo by diving deep into its origins. Join for a unique tour full of history, culture, Japanese trains and bizarre vending machines!
Tour description
"All roads lead to Nihonbashi"
The area of Nihonbashi gathers the headquarters of some of the most important corporations in Japan. But don't be deceived by the modern look of its tall skyscrapers. This area is the oldest part of the city and gathers a unique blend of modern and old architecture.
Come for a history tour of the past, present, and future of the Nihonbashi area. Throughout the visit, we will see how the city has modernized while protecting its old traditions in a unique cultural blend.
The walk will focus on the richness of Japanese culture by visiting old craft shops, hidden shrines, and historic department stores. We will eat traditional Japanese desserts and check out a kimono shop!
