Welcome! My name is Marcelli. I am a young boy graduated in Art History from the UAM and with a master's degree in Advanced Studies of Museums and Cultural Heritage from the UCM. Since I was little I have been a very curious person, with an interest in knowing everything that may be behind things and, above all, in transmitting, communicating and sharing all my experiences. I also consider it essential to know how to listen, to have an open mind to what other people can teach us through their own experiences. All these elements, together with my great passion for Art, have led me to launch myself as a guide. Because it is a profession that I love, that combines my main virtues and hobbies. I have been a guide in Madrid for a year with tours of the historic center, the Retiro Park and, for some time now, in my private temple, the Prado National Museum. Culture in general, and art in particular, is not an amalgamation of objects. The works (paintings, sculptures, etc.) are living beings, which were conceived in a specific context. They dialogue with us, they question us, they suffer and suffer, but they are also grateful. Some have survived for centuries to reach our days so that we can enjoy them. Join me on this adventure discovering and sharing what they want to give us! Because without culture, we would all be mindless robots.

Tour description

What made me fall in love with Art are the incredible stories that lie behind each work and artist. Stories, legends , anecdotes whose protagonists are Greek gods, kings of Spain and characters from the holy scriptures. Along with this, how different communities describe and interpret the world.

The Museo Nacional del Prado is not a simple container. It is a temple, my temple and an open book for all those interested in discovering and knowing its stories.

But what is the route? The itinerary of our visit to the Prado is based on the personality of the institution at the time of its creation. Its opening on November 19, 1819 by the monarch Ferdinand VII as the Royal Museum of Paintings .

For approximately 3 hours, in a flexible and calm way, the objective is to get to know the nucleus of the collection of paintings of the kings of Spain, deciphering and seeing their messages and tricks . What were the tastes of our kings? Which artists did you commission? The response is made up of 5 prominent names:

  • Bosco (The Garden of Earthly Delights...)
  • Titian (The Bacchanal of the Andrios, Venus and Adonis...)
  • Rubens (The Judgment of Paris...)
  • Velázquez (Las Meninas, The Forge of Vulcano...)
  • Goya (The Majas, The Black Paintings...)

Through mythology , the History of Spain and religion , we will be part of how these five masters (AND SOME SURPRISES) were able to please their patrons, becoming exceptions to the rule.

IMPORTANT:
The tour takes place during the payment schedule. It is essential to arrive at the meeting point at the indicated time with the purchased ticket. In case of any problem, do not hesitate to write.
In addition, out of courtesy, the first fifteen minutes are dedicated to buying it at the box office if necessary and accessing the building.

Punctuality is requested as it is a VERY crowded space.

Once inside, around 3:15 p.m., the Muses will witness a synthetic introduction to the institution and its architecture. After this phase, the visit will proceed with a cyclical and historical tour that will end in the same room as the beginning, for the convenience of customers.

This tour is personal. It is made entirely by me and the only objective is to share with the interested people, the magic that objects called paintings give off. End clichés, untangle knots, unmask objects called paintings together with their creators, the artists, as well as their patrons.

There is no wrong question! Ignorance is a virtue! Welcome to this beautiful journey!
