Free tour of the Montmartre district (past and present)
Tour description
Paris and Montmartre are one. Aside from their unique charm, we want to introduce you to their past and present so you can enjoy and feel part of this beautiful neighborhood . Renowned artists such as Van Gogh and Picasso once lived here. They frequented its streets and shops in search of inspiration. Today, art is still present.
We will begin the visit with its famous Red Light District, its cabarets and the famous Moulin Rouge, a symbol of Paris and the Belle Epoque, and the Moulin de la Galette, declared a Historic Monument in 1939.
In the quintessential bohemian neighborhood of Paris, everything is imbued with that character where freedom and equality are felt more than anywhere else. Its streets are filled with cafes, terraces, and artists who paint and enjoy the life of Montmartre. And if this neighborhood is famous for anything, it's undoubtedly for having been the home of the sweet Amèlie Poulin. Throughout our tour, we're sure to recall different scenes and locations from the film, such as the Café des deux moulins.
We'll end our tour near the Sacré-Coeur Basilica . We can't say much about one of Europe's symbols and one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the world. Construction began in 1875, and its tower reaches 83 meters high. This imposing basilica undoubtedly dominates the entire skyline, offering one of the best panoramic views of Paris, if not the best.
During the visit you will enjoy and get to know the most emblematic and essential places of the famous Montmartre neighborhood . Although it is difficult to describe the neighborhood in its entirety, this is only a small brushstroke of the tour, just as a magician does not reveal his tricks, we as guides, want you to let yourself go and be surprised by our places of passage and the extraordinary stories that you will find along our way.
