Free historical tour of Prohibition in New York
Hello GuruWalkers! We are Ala Tours. We were born in Bogota, Colombia and our team has been living in New York City for several years as well as traveling around the world getting to know different places that we have fallen in love with. New Yorkers say that we transmit the energy of the city more local than they do, because of our love and knowledge about this great city. We have visited close to 50 countries and from each of them we learned something new. Our goal is to discover the culture, architecture, art and customs of each new destination we visit. Likewise, we love to share experiences, so we will be happy to share with you everything we know about NYC, so you can take with you an unforgettable experience. We are waiting for you! Tour description
Welcome to New York City!
Do you want to visit the underground and hidden bars of New York while discovering the history of Prohibition?
Join us and delve into the culture fleeing from the typical tourist experiences, it is something similar to other tourism.
On January 16, 1920, the 22nd Amendment prohibited the sale and consumption of alcohol in the United States. As Prohibition officers patrolled the streets of New York City, illegal practices and criminal activity were rampant. During the 13 years of Prohibition, more than 15,000 speakeasies were opened. Although many of those bars have since closed, some New York City owners have enjoyed keeping history alive and reviving the underground culture of the 1920s. Whether you're a regular on the New York bar scene or just visiting, here are 5 of the best speakeasies in New York City.
In this tour I will show you New York from the perspective of a local passionate about knowing the world and showing the attractions of the city.
