Walking on the wall - History and Berlin Vibe Free Walking Tour

Duration: 3h
Languages: English
Guru: Behzad
Quality Verified Registered on January 23, 2023

Hello, I'm Behzad from Iran, who never cancel the tours, even with just one guest! I am a formerly Ph.D. student in physics, but now, passionate about the history and vibes of Berlin. A city with an amazing history in each corner and a multicultural vibe. Why am I doing this? For more than a year, we have had a large group that goes out every week and visits a new neighborhood of the city, and we haven't visited a place twice! So I decided to share this experience and show Berlin, and all layers of it, to an even larger group of people, that are you! Guruwalkers!

Tour description

We would have been killed if we had participated in this walking tour 35 years ago! But don't worry it's not dangerous anymore. However, you can feel a little of the crises in this divided city. And you will know it's more than a "Tale of two cities"! It's the story of two different worlds in the middle of the cold war. Including stories of many people who suffered from these conflicts.

In our walking tour, we will visit:

  • Rabbit Field
  • Liesen Bridge
  • North Side Gallery
  • Berlin Wall memorial
  • Mauer Park
  • Japanese Cherry Trees on the path of Berlin Wall (in the Spring)

I booked 3 walking tours during my trip to Berlin and this was by far the best of the tours. It was extremely informative, and got to learn a lot and see things that you would normally never notice. I was surprised that not many people book this tour. I would highly recommend this to anyone. And helps you feel what people must have gone through during the time of the wall

We had great time walking along the Berlin wall. The journey was iliustrated by stories and told impressivle. Its wonderful, when not local guide is so deep in the history and people emotions.

The best walking tour I've ever been on. Truly. Behzad is very knowledgeable and kind. His tour escapes the obvious routes without leaving any of the fundamentals behind. Win-win! Highly recommend it!

This was an excellent walking tour. My husband and I were the only participants so we benefitted from a personal tour. We have visited Berlin before and parts of the wall, but Behzad introduced us to so many new and amazing details. He was clearly passionate about the subject matter and was able to tell us the factual information as well as personal stories. The tour lasted about 3 hours and covered a considerable distance but the subject matter was captivating and Behzad was able to bring the subject to life. We are grateful that he was prepared to run the walk for just the two of us. Many thanks and we highly recommend this tour for other visitors.
