Free walking tours in Bukhara

We had a very interesting, informative and energetic tour of Bukhara. The perfect way to get our days in Bukhara started. It is evident that Makhbuba really likes her town and wants to share this with visitors. Highly recommended.

Maks is an awesome tour guide (but be ready to walk, it’s a long tour!) We hit all the highlights in one tour and Maks gave us so much information at each site and about Bukhara in general. I really like the crafts and handicrafts she chose to show us as well. It was definitely a morning well spent!

Makhbuba (also called Ruby for those of us who found the name difficult to pronounce!) was a wonderful guide - she was really knowledgeable and gave us a fantastic insight into the history of Bukhara - she answered all our questions and I really learnt so much! I can highly recommend her as a guide - a lovely girl whose English was perfect! Thank you Ruby, our walk was a highlight of our trip - and also many thanks for the restaurant recommendations - we went to Eski today for lunch and it was the best meal we've had in Uzbekistan!! You are a star!!!

Ravshan tour offers a great balance between the history, culture, and stories of Bukhara. Particularly like the parts when he shared the everyday life and custom in Uzbekistan. He also provided great recommendations on local restaurants (we tried two restaurants he recommended and both were delicious)!

Walking in the Heart of Ancient Bukhara

An Unforgettable Bukhara Experience! Maks was a warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable guide who brought Bukhara’s history, architecture, culture, and everyday life vividly to life. As we moved through the city, she drew our attention to the details we might otherwise have missed—ornamental architectural features, the character of the streets, and the atmosphere surrounding each place we visited. Her explanations made the monuments feel connected to the people, traditions, and daily rhythms of Bukhara rather than like isolated sights. With her enthusiasm, humor, and memorable stories, we could picture the city not only as it appears today but also as a living place shaped by its past. We left with a deeper appreciation for Bukhara and the sensory impressions of exploring it on foot: its historic streets, distinctive buildings, and lively atmosphere. We wholeheartedly recommend Maks to anyone visiting Bukhara!
