My name is Chris a born and bred cockney from the East End of London. I have been guiding walking tours around the great City of London since 2005 when I qualified as an official City of London guide. I have been passionate about the history of London since I was a small boy and that passion has never died. My interest in the City has enabled me to explore many of the traditions, secrets and eccentricities of the City that most people do not know about and which I can now share with my clients on my walks. I love London, come for a walk with me and let me share my knowledge of the great and beautiful city with you.
Ghastly Grim London - Jack the Ripper, Wicked Whitechapel and Sophisticated Spitalfields - In the footsteps of Jack the Ripper.
Come on a journey back to the 1880s as we explore Whitechapel and Spitalfields in the footsteps of Jack The Ripper, including the pub he may have drank in.
The meeting point is by the Sundial next to the exit of Tower Hill underground station. (Please see the photo). I will be holding a purple umbrella with white spots and wearing my official City of London guide badge.
The walk ends at Spitalfields Market which is a 5-minute walk from Liverpool Street station.
Dress - Please wear shoes comfortable and suitable for walking and dress according to the the weather as the walk will go ahead even if it is raining.
Food and drink - Please bring a drink with you as we will not normally stop for refreshments. Food and drink is available at Tower Hill and there are many places to eat and drink in the Spitalfields area. We will pass shops where you can buy food and drink if you need to.
Restrooms - There are restrooms available at the start and finish of the walk.
Payment -
Cash - £'s is preferred , I am also happy to take Euro, USD, AUD and other major currency notes.
Electronic / Cards - I can take contactless, MasterCard, Visa and Amex card payments.
Please be aware that while GuruWalks are FREE to book, you pay what you think is fair after the walk. "Try before you buy" does not get better than this !
When deciding what is fair please consider that your Guru Chris, is a professional qualified London guide and this is my job. So if you enjoy the walk and pay nothing, (Yes, some people do this) that really would not be fair. The average payment for this type of tour in London is £15- £20
Minimum number - The minimum number of walkers booked in for this tour to take place is 5. If there are fewer than this number 12 hours before the start time I will, sadly, have to cancel the tour as it will be uneconomic for me. If you are a group of fewer than 5 and wish to ensure the tour takes place please contact me and make an advanced payment of £60.
