Tour description
- WHAT’S IN OUR TOUR
Get ready to fall in love with Gamla Stan - Stockholm’s enchanting Old Town and one of the most picture-perfect medieval districts in Europe. Finding the starting point is a breeze, it’s right outside the Gamla Stan metro station, just steps from the heart of the Old Town. You can’t miss us, simply look for your guide proudly holding the Nordic Freedom Tours sign. Easy to find, impossible to get lost!
This isn’t a “free of charge” walking tour, but it’s a tip-based public experience, where your contribution at the end reflects how much you’ve enjoyed the tour. We believe great stories and great guides are worth rewarding!
Now, let’s explore the magic. As you wander through the cobblestone streets and colorful alleys of Gamla Stan, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back into another era. The Old Town has been perfectly preserved for centuries, offering a living museum of Swedish history and culture.
You’ll visit one of the narrowest streets in Europe, just 90 centimeters wide! It’s a quirky reminder of how creative city builders were in medieval times. You’ll also spot mysterious metal house signs - they’re not just pretty decorations; each one reveals a story from Stockholm’s fascinating past.
Curious about the Swedish monarchy? You’ll discover why the King of Sweden doesn’t wear a crown, and what truly makes this modern royal family unique.
Join our tip-based walking tour and experience Stockholm like a local. Our passionate guides will share hidden gems, funny anecdotes, and little-known facts that bring the Old Town to life.
