Socialist Stockholm - Norrmalm Historical Tour on Lenin in Stockholm and the 1900s
Tour description
The Socialist Stockholm Tour is an experience aimed at anyone who has some interest in the history of socialism and the left in general: has it ever made sense to talk about "socialism" in Sweden? And if so, in what sense? Why did Lenin stop in Stockholm to buy a new suit? Who were the anti-fascist volunteers who left for Spain ? And how did Anton Nillson, a Swedish anarchist , become a general in the Red Army?
What was the relationship between Social Democratic Sweden and Fascist Italy? Was Sweden really neutral during World War II?
Was Olof Palme the only Western leader to oppose the Vietnam War? Has Swedish Social Democracy always been uncompromisingly reformist? How was the Sacco and Vanzetti affair received in Stockholm?
The tour will focus on Lenin's numerous visits to Stockholm , the Swedish "quasi-revolution" of 1917, the internal opposition to social democracy, but also Stockholm during the interwar period, the policy of neutrality, the Olof Palme murder and the Grand Hotel in Norrmalm, where spies from all sides stayed during the Cold War .
