I was born in Budapest. Besides being a tour guide, I am a writer, journalist, playwright, and screenwriter. For me, stories represent the world and thus human understanding within it. That's why I am in love with Budapest, where the infinitely diverse facades, the musty walls of the historic castle district, and the spaces of modern communal areas tell mysterious and adventurous stories, just like the cobblestones beneath our feet, the facades above our heads, or the hidden pubs with their regular patrons. If you join me, I will not only show you the most beautiful and important sights of the capital city but also share some of the best stories it has with you.
Robert was the perfect tour guide - the 3,5 hrs passed very quickly due to the interesting and entertaining stories (although it was very coooold🥶). He also offered us tea and local sweets and had some very good recommendations for the rest of our stay 🍬 Would do it again 🌍
The tour was very informative. Robert really knows his history being a local and studying it. He brought warm tea for the group which was such a nice added touch. We especially loved the stories he shared about his family and how they related to the history of Budapest. Also, after the tour he gave a list of recommendations which were helpful and assisted us in any questions or suggestions we needed. :)
This walking tour covers most of the main tourist must sees and there are many photo worthy moments. Robert has fantastic knowledge of Hungarian history, it was factual, relevant and interesting. But the point of difference is his storytelling, the way he wove his own family history with his grandparents into the story made us feel the struggles one must have faced during the war and occupation. Even going to very dark places in history that although are painful should never be forgotten as there is so much to learn from it! The shoes!! He highlighted how resilient the Hungarian people are with many academic, cultural and artistic successes. He engaged us with quizzes, so pay attention, correct answers did not go unrewarded! It was a wonderful 3 hours! P.s. don’t wait to do this tour on the last day in Budapest like we did, he included so many links to the best things to do, restaurants, pub crawls, jazz music etc… We have run out of time! Thanks Robert!!!!
We had a wonderful tour in Budapest with Robert! He was incredibly informative, it’s amazing how much knowledge he can retain and share so effortlessly. He also kept things fun throughout; we really enjoyed the quizzes and the little prizes along the way. Budapest is such a beautiful city, and Robert made exploring it even more enjoyable. The tea break was a lovely touch as well. The only downside was that, although the tour was a full three hours (which was great!), there were no toilet stops included. Adding one would make the experience absolutely perfect. Overall, highly recommended
