I living in Ho Chi Minh
This was an authentic experience very different from the typical “cooking classes”. It was like spending half a day with a friend where she teaches you how to cook and experience life as and with a local. Jamie is very super nice, genuine and took extremely good care of us and our experience. Went to the market bought fruits, supermarket for miscellaneous then back to her apartment where she cooked and taught us how to make the dishes. We chose the Braised Pork, water spinach and winter melon soup. She made it look easy and it was very simple and tasty. What I like about this program is that I will be able to make these dishes on my own when I get back home unlike the typical pretentious cooking class with chefs. Took the public bus to the Pier where we ended the day with a river cruise to District 1. From there on our own we spent some time in the area where there were a lot happening and things ti do. Overall it was a fantastic experience. She taught us a lot. How to cook a dish we really like, how to take the public bus as a part of our transportation options, the water bus and a local market to get good quality fruits. Experience started at 14:00 and finished around 19:30.
Jamie is a truly sincere guide who wanted to make the cooking experience a memorable one for those not familiar with Vietnamese cooking. She scored 5 stars with our family
I really enjoyed the tour with Jamie. The local market was really nice to see. Jamie can speak very good English and could tell a lot about the traditional Vietnamese food. We prepared braised pork, stir fried water spinach, winter water Melon soup. It was so delicious, enjoyed it very much !!
Thien was delightful company and informative of local culture. I really enjoyed the experience. We met at the bustling inner-city Benh Thanh market, travelled by public bus 88 to the local Do Dac market in District 2 near Thien's apartment. Thien showed us how to make spring rolls with all the traditional ingredients including mince pork & prawns, vegetables and noodles at her apartment, which has a wonderful view of the city, the Hue Nghien Buddhist Temple and the Landmark building. The return trip by water bus is a 'must do' giving fascinating views of the city from the Saigon River.
