The Alternative Tourism Association, founded by enthusiasts in 2015, began by organizing hundreds of "Free Tours" in Arad and later expanded to Timișoara, serving thousands of tourists, especially during its European Capital of Culture year. Beyond free tours, the association enthusiastically develops themed and "behind closed doors" tours aimed at helping local residents in both cities better understand their heritage. Additionally, it plays a key role in raising the standard of Romanian tourism by training and certifying modern national tour guides.

Alex’s tour of Timisoara was informative, engaging and entertaining. I learned so much about my hometown, and it was really fun too!
