Ich bin Maaffar Houcine, ein vom Tourismusministerium anerkannter englischer Reiseleiter im Königreich der Lichter Marokko. Bevor ich offizieller Reiseleiter in Marokko wurde, verbrachte ich über vier Jahre als Rucksacktourist in vielen Ländern Afrikas und Europas. Ich teile meine Erfahrungen und mein Wissen gerne mit anderen Menschen, um unsere Kultur und unser Wissen zu bereichern. Ich stamme aus Südmarokko und stamme aus einer Nomadenfamilie. It was such a good choice to book the tour. Marrakesh can be so overwhelming and often you feel like the only thing people want from you is just to leave money everywhere. With the guide (I'm so so sorry for forgetting your name, please write it😅) we could see Marrakech without all the tourist traps, leaving the consumerism behind us for some hours. We saw architecture, heard about the history of Marrakech and how practical everything is built, the purpose of every material and way of construction. We saw the real souks, heard how to avoid the worst tourist traps and insane leather prices - although it still was hard not getting scammed the next day hehe. The tour really made me appreciate Marrakech and see the beauty in it and also gain sympathy for the people here since I realized the ones trying to mislead you or sell things for insane prices (which is most of the people you meet when you walk through the touristic Medina streets for some days) is really just a small part of the population. Thank you very much for the tour! We learned so much and even though walking through the city in the heat for ca. 3 h was tiring, every sentence to the last was interesting and worth it. Very informative! Learned so much more about Morocco despite being in multiple tours in the last 5 days. He also provided a lot of practical tips and took amazing photos of us. Highly recommended!
One of the highlights of our short time in Marrakech. Maaffar guided us through a number of authentic and delicious local spots with extremely reasonable prices. He was able to tailor the spots to our tastes so for example we included a grilled sardine place as well as fresh doughnut bakery favored by locals. What sets this tour apart is that Maaffar pulled back the curtain on the tourism industry in Marrakech: most tours and guides will steer you the touristy places with vastly inflated (albeit still reasonable by western standards) prices and an inauthentic experience. He was able to teach us what the locals pay and what authentic tagine, tangia, and couscous look like. Shoutout to El Diablo
