Nairobi Food Tour

I joined Sharon's food tour of Nairobi on my very first day here. I was looking to get a feel for the city, and the tour exceeded all expectations I could have had. Sharon's enthusiasm, professionalism and ability to captivate with her story telling are palpable and I left her tour feeling like I had reached some understanding of what makes this city, and the brilliant people who live in it, so special. I should also say that, as a vegitarian, I was pleasently surprised at the different types of food options I was presented with during the tour. 10 out of 10...book a tour with Sharon, everybody - and please keep up the good work!

Sharon was an amazing host for the gastronomic tour. She took me to 3 marketplaces for food with all their own special dishes and explained their origins. I enjoyed it a lot. Also outside of the tour sharon is a very friendly person who like to make converstation. I was alone on this tour so sharon adjusted the tour a little to my interests which i very much appreciated. Thank you very much, I highly reccomend!

Sharon’s tour was great! She well prepared for the tour and gave us a chance to experience local food that we wanted. She also took photos of us during the tour and sent them back to us, so we have more memories, which is appreciated. She is kind, considerate and friendly. This was fabulous. Often “local food tours” actually take you to mainstream or tourist spots that serve local food. Sharon did not. She took me to actual lunch spots where working Kenyans get their grub—but the yummiest of these :) these were stalls, alleys and restaurants that I would’ve passed by on my own. The food was delicious and safe for European stomachs (at least mine). Throughout, Sharon showed amazing warmth, friendliness and knowledge—greeting acquaintances, explaining the dishes and norms, deftly fending off excessive curiosity with a joke in Swahili (there wasn’t much of this! And what curiosity there was, was good-natured and fun.) Highly recommend. Note: this is NOT “gourmet” in the sense of fine dining or hipster street food for expats. It is true local stuff—cheap, yummy home cooking and plastic chairs.

Sharon was amazing! She was so insightful during our tour and pointed out so many things that we wouldn’t have otherwise seen or known about. She made us feel safe at all times and we would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to know more about Kenya and their food. Thanks Sharon!

Sharon's walking tour with food pairings was excellent! Great local insight to Kenyan cuisine, peppered with history and some sightseeing to points of interest nearby. Sharon was approachable, knowledgeable, and warm. A bonus was a brief foray into matatu culture and urban life in Nairobi. Highly recommend!

This was by far our favourite experience in Nairobi. We had an amazing afternoon with Sharon, we learnt so much, are so much and talked so much. A great introduction to the city and it's culture. Felt like spending the afternoon with an old friend. Great communication before the tour and after. I also let Sharon know I was a vegetarian which was no issue for her at all. Thanks Sharon.

Fun way to explore downtown and get to know how your average Kenyan lives in the city without getting too overwhelmed. Sharon was a fabulous guide and arranged for us to see and try a lot of new foods in some interactive ways. Definitely recommend doing early on in your trip to get your bearings and jump into the hustle and bustle of Nairobi life.

We were privileged to have Sharon to ourselves. First time to Nairobi, this was such a great way to learn about Kenyan food and abit about Kenyan life and the history. Sharon has lots of info to share and obviously well loved by the locals. She was a joy to spend time with and we really felt we got a lot out of our time together.

Sharon was a great guide and took us around downtown Nairobi visiting places we could never find ourselves. She provided great information about the local food and took us to places where only locals go. Great guide and highly recommend her tour.

Sharon did a wonderful job introducing us to the food and culture of Nairobi, and patiently answered all our questions. She was enthusiastic and kind throughout. We tried food we otherwise wouldn’t have (and even went back the next day to try things she had recommended). We went on a few matutus which was a unique experience. She was also kind enough to take pictures & videos for us so we could focus on the experience. We loved our morning with Sharon and highly recommend doing this walk with her!! ❤️

Five stars! This was such an informative and interesting tour! Much more than just a food tour, although we got to try so many wonderful foods and even got to make our own chapati from local chefs. Our guide Sharon is truly a great guide and active member of the community. We got to learn a lot about the history, culture and way of living of the locals to see a real glimpse of the daily lives, inspirations and struggles of people in Nairobi. One of the best tours I attended so far. Sharon was very passionate to show different local food markets through out downtown Nairobi. We were able to taste different kind of food and drinks. All in all a very high recommended tour.
