Free walking tours in Negombo

Great tour. Premil waited for us as we were running late and took us to a number of different spots. Born and bred locally, Premil knew the history and stories. He also organized a boat trip on they lagoon for us at short notice.

Did the tour with Anton. Really liked it. He showed me around at the dry & wet fish market. Explained a lot of information. We also went to the fort and the English and Catholic Church. Would definitely recommend.

Anton was very through and knowledgeable. Anton was able to answer all my questions. I would recommend this walking tour in Negombo!

Thanks Shashi for taking us on a belated tour after we missed the start in the morning. The tour was informative and varied, giving us a good sense of Negombo and getting to see its key industry (fishing) up close and personal, which was very unique (for us at least). Shashi also provided his knowledge as local of both Negombo and Sri Lanka as a whole. With a couple of well timed tuk tuk rides he managed to fit a lot in little over 90 mins, taking us to most of the town's main sites. Cheers Shashi it capped off of our last day of an excellent adventure in Sri Lanka!

Really enjoyed the tour with Anten!

Shashi was very friendly and showed us a lot of different aspects of Negombo: - market: (dried) fish, vegetables, spices,... He could always tell the name of different food items and how it was used. We were also able to smell and guess, and he helped us in buying fruits. - fish drying plant - Culture: Saint Mary's church, Dutch Bell tower, cricket and volleyball terrain,... - Dutch Canal and Lagoon - ...and answers to the many questions we had! Strongly recommended!

Anton was such a nice guide! I was the only one on the tour but he really took the time to show me all the good spots, like a Tamil temple, the Sunday market, fish market etc. We had some really nice conversations about Sri Lankan culture and the country in general. Would highly recommend this tour to see all the Negombo highlights in one morning. Big thank you to Anton for showing me around and answering whatever questions I had.

It was ok.

Shashi was friendly and informative. We had a really nice walk around Negombo where he showed us all the differents parts of Negombo and the history behind it. We also had a little tuk tuk ride. At the end of the walk he also kindly arranged a taxi and price for us to make sure we got back safely and not get ripped off.

Premil is a lovely gentleman with a kind and affable demeanor as well as knowledgeable. His English was quite good and comprehensible. We learned historical influences on Sri Lanka as well as life in Sri Lanka today. He was very helpful in getting us a tuk tuk back to our hotel. A very enjoyable experience…I recommend him.

I couldn’t recommande Anton more!! He’s a very knowledgeable and professional man. I had the opportunity to ask him so many questions about the history of the country, but also the daily life and the culture. Don’t overpay for company tour and choose Anton, you won’t regret it.

I like walking tours that do not bombard you with information and instead allows you to be one with the surroundings and just soak the visual stories in. Anton’s tour was just that—he led me to areas that makes Negombo the city that it is today, like a friend eager to show his hometown. Anton eagerly answered all of my questions, too. Highly recommended!

Anton met us at the spot indicated on the map at the exact time. He followed a route that showed the spices, Sunday open market, fried fish market, dried fish process in morning fish market area and evening fresh fish market area. A walk through several local churches. He shared about his family and how they live, the cultural expectations and showed interest in how it is in Canada. Very kind and friendly person.

I really enjoyed my tour with Anton. There was only me so I was very grateful it went ahead. Other Guru tours I had booked in Singapore had been cancelled if not sufficient numbers. I really enjoyed my tour and did not realise there was so much to see in Negombo. Anton was very knowledgeable and took me to places I would never have found alone. Alone I probably would have just wandered up and down the road and looked at the shops. Anton shared a lot about his life and his family which is what I find so interesting. He was very attentive to what I wanted to see and made sure I got my tuk tuk back to my hotel. Thank you Anton for a really fun interesting tour. Sue UK
