Free walking tours in Galle

Madawa is an excellent tour guide, speaks great English and has prepared a really interesting tour route around the Galle Old Fort area! Along the way you'll learn a lot about Sri Lanka's history, politics, economics, trade, tourism, shipping, elephants swimming 4km out to sea that had to be (safely) rescued along with the devastating 2004 tsunami which inflicted so much damage on the country. I'd highly recommend doing this tour with Madawa as you see and learn about so many interesting places and things. The three other people in my family who did the tour all really enjoyed it too! 12/10!

Fabulous tour. Madawa was really knowledgeable about the forte, the buildings and the history. He was also pretty funny and had some amazing one liners. We was able to ask lots of questions and explore. Overall a really good tour!

We had a great walking tour with Madawa through Galle Fort. He shared a lot of insight into the colonial history, architecture and local culture, things we definitely wouldn’t have picked up on without a guide. His storytelling was engaging and informative and he made the tour feel personal and relaxed. Highly recommended if you want to truly understand the place beyond what you see on the surface.
