Free walking tours in Playa del Carmen

I had a great time learning about the history and culture of Playa del Carmen. I feel like I have a better appreciation of the area now. The guide was also super friendly and helped me practice my Spanish since we were a small group!

The tour was great to learn more about Mexico, Playa del Carmen and Quinta Roo as a whole. Definitely worth a trip to explore downtown and find all the hot spots.

It was really interesting to hear the stories and meaning behind the things we saw. We had seen some of the things, such as street art, but the guide was able to tell us the story of each. I thought the tour was very informative and like all great 'free walking tours' gave us a locals perspective and some real insight. We were also given lots of useful information for after the your, and we had all our questions answered. Recommended..

If it is your first time in playa del Carmen then it is absolutely recommended. The tour learns you more than history, the tips for food, going out and so on are very interesting. Absolutely the top.

We were lucky enough to have the tour guide to ourselves and were both really impressed by her. She was informative, passionate, engaging and always happy to explain more or add detail where we asked. The tour itself was also very well considered, with a good route that made you feel like you really got to know PDC, and really thorough and interesting information about both the Spanish and Maya history of the area. We made a lot of stops at culturally significant buildings and locations, and many local small businesses that are working to benefit the lives of Maya people across Latin America. I really can't recommend this tour highly enough. Definitely a worthy way to spend an evening in Playa! We're made a lot of plans for our stay here based off the information we were given, both as part of the tour and from Isabel herself.

Amazing history of the Mayan people told by a passionate story teller. Took us to many out of the way places and had lots of facts to tell us! We loved it.

Very interesting tour of playa del Carmen, get to see interesting back history of some of the buildings, paintings, history and aspects of culture. Would recommend if first time in the city

We just completed a very enjoyable tour in Playa del Carmen. The host (sorry I can't remember her name) was so bubbly and eager to share lots of fun facts about PDC and the Mayan culture. I had been in PDC for 3 weeks prior to taking this tour and it was a highlight of my trip! Highly recommend!!

Astonishingly good tour. She made Playa del Carmen come to life, showed us things we would never have found on our own, gave excellent explanations. She's a first rate guide.

My guide was friendly, energetic and had good English. We walked for around 1.5 hours. There were only two of us, so it was more like a walking chat, which was great! The content was heavily focused upon visiting local businesses and now to support the local economy, rather than the history per se, so good if you want to identify places to buy souvenirs to support the local economy and places to eat. I didn’t learn anything regarding the local history of PDC. We tipped 200 pesos which was the recommended amount. I enjoyed this walk.

Isabel is a gem of a tour guide! I was the only one who attended but that was great because I felt I was given a more personalized tour of PDC. I would definitely recommend!

Met with Isabelle (I think that was her name, sorry if I got it wrong!) She took us to a few places and we learned a lot about the history of Playa Del Carmen and its people. Obviously the centre is quite a small place so the stops were limited but she pointed out some places that were less touristy and would support locals, which was exactly what I was hoping for.

I booked in English, as I was alone I asked Isa if I could join the Spanish tour, but I wasn’t sure, if my Spanish was sufficient. Isa offered to let me listen in Spanish and to translate what I don’t understand. She was very informative and enthusiastic and very helpful by translating. Muchas gracias!!!
