Night Tour Tashkent

Extremely informative tour of Soviet history and architecture in the capital city. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the USSR or wants an alternative period of history covered during their stay in Uzbekistan beyond ancient history which is well covered in other tours and in cities like Samarkand, Khiva, and Bukhara.

Donat gave good info clearly, and guided us to places that I wouldn’t have found by myself - with info that covered the history (I noticed some other solo tourists also hear some of the explanations).

I just had an absolutely amazing Free Walking Tour with Donat. He is such an smart person who truly loves his country and has an incredible amount of knowledge about Uzbekistan, Tashkent, and the bigger picture — all the global movements and connections between them. He speaks so many languages and is genuinely willing to answer any question you might have, providing clear, competent explanations and even recommending further sources so you can dive into your own “rabbit hole” of research afterwards. I enjoyed this tour with him so much. I also want to highlight that even though I was the only participant, he didn’t cancel the tour — instead, he tailored it completely to my interests and needs. I’m honestly amazed and so happy I got to meet this young man. He has definitely enriched my introduction to Central Asia and has explained so much to me.

Donat was very knowledgeable about the soviet history, he has great facts about the sites and i really recommend this tour cause it is different from the usual and also you can see the city at night

We were very satisfied by the information shared and the route covered by our guide. The guide was very conscious about keeping the time, yet providing sufficient information. We enjoyed our time and believe it was worthy the suggested price (which is more of western standards). We got what we wanted for the Soviet part of Tashkent. We had already visited the old part of the town before meeting the guide. Otherwise, we would have booked also the other tour with him covering the old story of the city (before 18-19th century).

This was one of the best walking tours I’ve done recently! Donat’s deep knowledge of Tashkent’s history, combined with his engaging storytelling, made the experience truly unforgettable. His outgoing personality added a personal touch that stood out. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Toshkent :)

Donat is an excellent guide who clearly knows his stuff. His tour was informative, and definitely helped understand a bit more about how Toshkent came to be and it's past. His work as a guide was invaluable, because so much of the Soviet history has been wiped away, so it is only with the knowledge he brings that can see the Soviet influence. I am disappointed I was unable to do his daytime tour.

I had a wonderful time! My guide was super nice, with a lot of energy and shared so many interesting facts and anecdotes. Even though I've already heard about the city before with another guide I learned a lot more.

I decided to join this tour after participating in the afternoon tour by Donat. This experience is much different but as interesting and well designed. I appreciated how much passion Donat has for the architecture and history of the city, it allowed me to understand better Tashkent and Uzbekistan!
