Live History is a 100% Portuguese registered trademark and a licensed company by the tourism bureau of Portugal. Learn the history and legends of the old town most representative neighborhoods, told by real local guides (sometimes impersonating Portuguese historical figures), getting a truly personal and insightful view on Lisbon, walking through the city's narrow alleys up and downhill, lost in time on a genuine "back to the past" entertaining and informal guided tour where history, stories, and fun facts combine together. :) For the best tours in Lisbon, look for our white umbrellas at Praça Dom Pedro IV, also known as Rossio. ;) Live History - Live Lisbon

About the tour

Cross the downtown of Lisbon, follow the old medieval walls, and enter Mouraria and Alfama, the oldest neighborhoods of the city that survived almost intact to the great earthquake of 1755, the birthplaces of Fado, where the true multicultural colours of Lisbon show up, ending at the Castle area or at the best sightseeing spot in Lisbon (Graça). On Tuesdays and Saturdays, we end at the famous flea market held on those days. :)

Learn the history and legends of the old town most representative neighborhoods, told by real local guides (sometimes impersonating Portuguese historical figures), getting a truly personal and insightful view on Lisbon, walking through the city's narrow alleys up and downhill, lost in time on a genuine "back to the past" tour. :)

Along the way, we will be visiting points of interest in the historic center of the city on an entertaining and informal guided tour where history, stories, and fun facts combine together. :)

What's the price?

A guruwalk is a pay-what-you want walking tour, which means, it's completely free to book and join the group, but the 'guru' expects to be rewarded once the tour ends. Some people give 5, some people give 50, you choose the price.

Reservations in advance are mandatory because if the 'guru' doesn't see any bookings one day, she will not show up at the meeting point. Or if she has too many 'walkers' that day, won't allow you to join without the reservation. Booking is completely free, fast and easy. Book your guruwalk now!

It was a rainy Lisbon Sunday but thanks to Marco Alfama and Mouraria still appeared splendid. He was a calm and considerate guide who gave us plenty of fun facts and nice tips for our stay. Definitely recommended!
