About the Tour

The best way to know the golden past of the city of Valencia during the Middle Ages, is through the different urban enclaves of the city such as the Ciutat Vella or the Cathedral.

Our tour will start from the modernist North Station, passing through the old framework of the medieval wall of Valencia, now disappeared, highlighting the remains of the city gates such as the Quart and Serranos Towers.

Then we will enter the tangled medieval plot of the Ciutat Vella neighborhood until we reach the heart of the political-religious life of medieval Valencia, Plaza de la Virgen, where we can enjoy the Cathedral of Valencia, the Palau de la Generalitat and the Remains of the Visigoth Valencia.

Next we will visit the famous Portal de Valldigna, a place that marked the old mulberry tree of the Christian city. Near this we will find the Almirante Baths, of Christian invoice but based on the famous Arab baths.

As a climax to the visit we can enjoy the best example of civil Gothic architecture in the city of Valencia which is the Llotja de la Seda or Mercaders. In it we will talk about the golden age of commerce that took place in that city, and about the creation of the building itself and the laws that governed trade (Consolat de Mar).

Finally, by prior appointment of the guide himself, we will visit the old convent of Santo Domingo, today headquarters of the General Captaincy in the province of Valencia.
