Duration: 2h

I was born and raised in Rome, the Eternal City. I am a Licensed Tour Guide and I graduated in History of Rome. I love meeting people from all over the world, sharing with them my knowledge of the most important sights along with the lesser known ones. Being a Tour Guide means to me leading tours with passion and with a hint of humor.

Tour description

The tour starts in Castel Sant'Angelo, once a monumental mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian, later transformed into a fortress and prison of the Papal States. Many well-known characters were locked up in the cells of this famous monument that stands out on the right bank of the Tiber river. The visit does not include the entrance to the Castle. We will later move along Via della Conciliazione to Piazza San Pietro where you can admire the wonderful Colonnade of Gian Lorenzo Bernini before entering the most famous Basilica in the world. I will tell you about the long and complex history of this place so significant in the Christian history of the city of Rome and I will illustrate the treasures and relics preserved in this magnificent Basilica. To access the Basilica appropriate clothing is required so I recommend no shorts and covered shoulders. Minimum 4 people

My wife and I have been in Rome for 3 weeks and this tour was towards our third week, and by this time we had already done plenty of Guruwalks and free walking tours. By far, Maria Grazia’s tour was simply one of the best. I am yet to meet another guide who is as knowledgeable and patient as Maria. On these tours, I am extremely curious to the point of irritating or trumping guides with my questions, but every single question I asked was very patiently answered, and I am amazed by the breadth and depth of her knowledge on all things Vatican. (We did Rome of the popes tour with her). She has been the best guide we’ve had in terms of depth of knowledge that we met in our entire trip of 2 months so far!

MariaGrazia was amazing with us on this tour, really taking the time to educate us on the details inside St Peter’s Basilica in such an engaging way. Thank you so much for such a great experience!
