Tour description
Giza Pyramids, Saqqara, Dahshur, Memphis Guided Tour in Egypt.
Have you ever been to the first pyramid built in Egypt? On this must-see walking tour northwest of what was once the city of Memphis , you'll see the oldest colossal stone building in Egypt.
Djoser's step pyramid at Saqqara was built under the rule of King Djoser and the supervision of his vizier, Imhotep. Djoser (c. 2670 BCE) was the first Third Dynasty king of Egypt and the first to build in stone. Before Djoser's reign, mastaba tombs were the usual form of tombs , until Imhotep started the idea of having one mastaba on top of the other in the shape now known as a step pyramid, then we'll head south towards Dahshur. Necropolis where you will be fascinated by the sight of the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid.
The bent pyramid was first built under the rule of King Sneferu, father of Cheops , for whom the Great Pyramid of Giza was built. The bent pyramid is named after the mistake the architect made that led them to complete the pyramid with a tilt instead of being a smooth serve. So you can see the first attempt to build a pyramid with your own eyes! The Red Pyramid was also built for King Snefru.
Mistakes made in the construction of the bent pyramid were avoided in building this one, resulting in the first perfect pyramid with straight sides ever made.
Then we go to the ancient capital of Egypt , Memphis, and we will see the great colossi statue of the great King Ramses 2 , then we will go to see the pyramids of Giza 2550BC, where you will be amazed by the majesty of the pyramids and how in perfect condition they are still at over thousands of years.
The Giza Necropolis includes:
- The Great Pyramid of Giza, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
- Khafre's Pyramid
- The Pyramid of Menkaure , along with its associated pyramid complexes, and the Great Sphinx of Giza .
After this unique tour of the pyramids, you will return to the meeting point.
